Dad's French Toast

Introduction

This is a really simple recipe, but it has always been well recieved, especially on those cold Minnesota winter mornings.

What you need

-  3 Eggs

-  1/2 tsp Salt

-  2 Tbsp Sugar

-  1 Cup of Milk

-   2 Tbsp Cinnamon

-  2 Tbsp Vanilla Extract

-  6 Slices of Bread (the heartier the better, slightly stale is also good)

What you do

-  Start by mixing together all the wet ingredients, including the Sugar, and Salt, not the Cinnamon yet.  Once the mixture is well mixed, but not over-beaten, sprinkle in the cinnamon.  The cinnamon won't dissolve or mix in really, and that is OK.  It will just float on top of the mixture.

-  Once the cinnamon is in, heat up a skillet or frying pan, to about the same temp you would cook pancakes at, about medium.  Spray the hot pan with some cooking spray and we are ready to cook.

-  Working on slice of bread at a time, gently drag the slice of bread through the batter, both top and bottom.  You want the bread wet, but not sopping.

-   Immediately place each wet bread slices in your pan, one at a time, taking care to not overcrowd.

-  Let each piece of bread brown up slightly on the bottom.  Flip when the edges of the bread are a bit dry and the bottom is browned some.  Repeat for the other side.

-  French toast will stay warm for a bit, but serve immediately.  Best condiments are going to be butter, syrup, and/or powdered sugar.
